The Parenting Path
Here's a secret nobody ever tells you. No-one ever masters parenting.
It’s a life changing journey of discovery for you and your child. You will be amazed at what you’re capable of and Irish Life Health can help you access the support you need for whatever stage you’re at on your parenting journey. What makes us different is that our support doesn’t end when you leave the hospital. Our maternity benefits go above and beyond to help you thrive rather than just survive your first year as a parent.
At lrish Life Health, we’re with you every step of the way in becoming a parent.
Getting Pregnant
The very beginning
We're here to help you as you take your first steps along the parenting path.
If you're embarking on your parenting journey you may be wondering about health insurance. Do you need it? And if you have it, what you have cover for.
When you're trying for a family, you never know how long it's going to take or what unexpected obstacles you might encounter along the way.
We know there's a lot to think about, which is why we've created this step-by-step handbook to take you through the following steps...planning & fertility benefits, maternity care options, pre-natal benefits and additional supports.
We're Expecting
We've got you covered
Congratulations!
This is wonderful news, you might be wondering what to do next. From talking to your GP to picking out names it can be a whirlwind of responsibilities and considerations. You'll also want to decide on what maternity care option suits you best.
We'll help you prepare for what’s ahead, with many of our plans giving cover towards pre-natal benefits and all of our plans giving access to the GentleBirth App.
The Big Day
The hard part
Those 9 months went by so fast, we'll help make sure the big day goes as smoothly as possible.
During your inpatient hospital stay, we cover consultant fees including anaesthetists as well as other medical costs. Our plans also cover up to 3 nights for normal delivery and up to 5 nights if it's a C-section in a private or semi-private room. We also look after your partner with cash back on expenses such as babysitting or parking.
Coming Home
The really hard part
Bringing your baby home is an exciting and potentially nerve-wracking time.
That's why we go further than any other insurer to provide you with a valuable and experienced support system when you get home from the hospital.
This unrivalled support includes visits from qualified midwives and post-natal supporters, welcome home food hampers and domestic support. This means you can look after your bundle of joy while we look after you.
The First 12 Months
The early days
As your baby grows we'll still be there to help you both along the way, making sure that you're able to provide your baby with the best possible care.
All of our plans offer unlimited consultations with a GP through our Digital Doctor service and our Nurse-on-Call phone line gives you access to a qualified nurse, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We don't forget about looking after you either, which is why we offer mental health support including post-natal depression counselling should you need it. We also offer support in other areas such as vaccination cover, first aid courses and even baby swimming classes.
